Geneva, Ohio – Several George Mason wrestlers competed at the U20/U23 World Team Trials held at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, from May 31 to June 2.
Three wrestlers finished in the top 12, including a seventh-place finish by rising senior
Drew Dickson earning him All-American honors. Wrestling in the 74 kg weight class in the U23 Freestyle division, Dickson won five matches en route to placement.
Rising junior
Sean Coughlin wrestled in both U20 Freestyle and Greco-Roman divisions. Wrestling at 77 kg in Greco-Roman, Coughlin finished fourth. The Springfield, Va., native earned a top 12 distinction in the U20 Freestyle competition.
Donovan Sprouse finished Top 12 in the U23 Freestyle competition at 97 kg.
The champions of the World Team Trials will represent the United States at the upcoming U20 and U23 World Championships.
Scheduled for September 2-8, the U20 World Championships will be held at the Pontevedra Municipal Sports Hall in Pontevedra, Spain, while the U23 World Championships are slated to return to Tirana, Albania, from October 21-27.
