FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University women's rowing program will compete in the famed Dad
Vail Regatta this Friday and Saturday in Pennsauken, N.J.
It's the Patriots' first trip to the historic event since the 2017-18 season.
"It has been a while since our team has raced at the Dad
Vail and we are looking forward to returning," head coach
Joseph Richards said. "We're sending some different boats than what we raced through the rest of the season. They're new combinations that we've been working on a little bit through the year but that we haven't raced yet. I'm excited to watch them compete in New Jersey."
The Patriots will send a Varsity 4+, Freshman/Novice 4+ and Women's Pair to the event to race. Fans can watch each day of the event live via YouTube.
The women's pair kicks things off Friday with a heat at 8:30 a.m., while the Novice 4+ heats will be at 8:45 and 9 a.m. Varsity 4+ time trials begin at 10:50 a.m., while pairs go off at 1:19 and 1:26 p.m.
Semifinal action begins Friday afternoon, with the women's pair races set for 1:19 and 1:26 p.m. Novice 4+ semis are at 1:47 and 1:54 p.m., while the Varsity 4+ semis will wrap up George Mason's Friday at 3:53 and 4 p.m.
Saturday's women's pair petite final is at 8:24 a.m., while the Novice 4+ petite final is set for 8:40 a.m. The Varsity 4+ will go off at 9:52 a.m. Grand finals for each boat type are set for 12:20 p.m., 12:40 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
