Fairfax, Va. -- The Patriots women's tennis team were shorthanded today but defeated the Shenandoah Hornets, 5-2, today at the George Mason Tennis Complex.
Down two starters the Patriots and not enough players to fill the singles lineup, Mason had to forfeit a match, starting down 0-1.
Mason earned the doubles point to begin the match after sweeping the doubles matches.
The middle of the Patriots line-up swept through their matches. Maitree Rout,
Dana Edson, and Maïlys Faur each won in straight sets. Freshman
Cenan Liu defeated the Hornets Olivia Guzzo, 6-0, 6-2.
At the #1 position,
Ruju Chauhan fell in three sets to Shenandoah's Tania Spruill.
