DAVIDSON, N.C. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team fell on the road at Davidson on Saturday afternoon, 16-6.
Chloe Reed and
Daniella Jimenez led the way on offense with two points each while
Gabby Rizzio had a career day on defense with a personal best four ground balls and a season-high two caused turnovers.
The Wildcats (7-6, 4-2) struck first just over a minute into the game, but Mason quickly tied it up just a minute later. The two teams traded goals throughout the first, but Davidson scored with just 41 seconds left in the opening frame to take a 4-3 lead into the second.
Peyton Farley opened the second-quarter scoring for the Patriots (8-6, 2-4) to tie the game at four, but it was all Davidson from there. After responding with a goal at the 12:36 mark of the second, the hosts strung together a 12-0 run over the next 30 minutes of game time to lead 16-4 with 13:24 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Reed closed the game with both of her tallies in the final 2:12 to provide the final tally, 16-6.
