FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team will look to extend its' win streak to three on Saturday when it travels to Davidson for another Atlantic 10 contest.
The last time out, Mason picked up a rivalry win over George Washington, 13-8, at home. On the other hand, Davidson dropped a tight road game at Massachusetts, falling 13-11 on the road.
In the 14
th meeting between the two teams, the Patriots will look to even the all-time series at seven, with Davidson holding a slight 7-6 lead after winning the last four games. A season ago, Davidson won 17-9 in Fairfax.
PATRIOT POINTS
- On Tuesday, goalkeeper Meghan Deehan was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week after a standout game against George Washington
- Shannon Tuozzo leads the Patriots with 43 goals and is leads the Atlantic 10 with 3.73 goals and is second with 4.82 points per game
- The graduate student also leads the team in points (55), assists (12), ground balls (22) and draw controls (80) and is second in caused turnovers (8)
- Four other Patriots have tallied 20+ goals: Dahlia Trippel (25), Chloe Reed (22), Peyton Farley (22) and Morgan Gunn (20)
- Defensively, Melanie Hutchinson and Ciara Curtis have tallied a team-high nine caused turnovers
- Lauren Distad is second on the team with 74 draw controls, as she and Tuozzo are the only two teammates in the Atlantic 10 with 70+ draw controls
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Davidson went 3-4 in non-conference play with wins over Winthrop, Stetson and Coastal Carolina. Since opening Atlantic 10 play, the Wildcats have gone 3-2 with wins over La Salle, VCU and George Washington while dropping road games at Richmond and UMass. Davidson has also gone 4-1 at home.
On offense, three Wildcats have scored 30+ points in 2024, led by 38 points from Josie Lambert who has scored a team-best 34 goals. Riley Cochrane is just behind her with 37 points on 21 goals and a team-best 16 assists. Jenna Skibbe is the third player with 30 points on 30 goals.
Defensively, Brynn Jones leads the team with 23 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers (8
th, A-10) on the season. Alanna Dumalac leads the Wildcats with 29 draw control wins.
