Orlando, Fla. – The 2024 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship kicked off today at the USTA National Campus with a match between George Mason and Fordham.
The reigning Atlantic 10 Champion Rams defeated No. 13 George Mason, 4-0, to advance to quarterfinal round.

The Rams started off strong in doubles action as the pair of Xiaowei "Ros" Hu/Eleni Fasoula took down Cenan Liu and Dana Edson, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles. The point was clinched on court one as Raffaela Alhach and Anlin Xie earned a 6-2 decision over Emily Wirt and Jenin Alasadi.

In singles action, Hu gave the Rams a 2-0 team advantage before Xintong "Cindy" Zhou extended the lead on court five. Franny Shea clinched the match on court six for the Rams, defeating Dana Edson, 6-2, 6-1.

The Patriots senior Emily Wirt was up 5-4 in the second set before the match concluded. Freshman Cenan Liu was edged, 7-5, in her match at No. 3 singles but before the second set began the Rams earned its clinching point.
