Women's Lacrosse To Play Final Road Game at La Salle

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team will travel to La Salle for its' final regular season road game on Saturday.
 
Mason is 6-2 all-time against the Explorers, including 2-0 on the road. Last season, the Patriots downed La Salle in Fairfax 13-11 behind a school-record nine goals from Shannon Tuozzo.
 
The last time out, Mason picked up an important Atlantic 10 victory over St. Bonaventure, 13-10, at home. Meanwhile, La Salle's comeback effort fell just short against Duquesne on the road, ultimately falling 12-11.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
  • Three Patriots have earned Atlantic 10 Weekly Honors this season: Meghan Deehan (Defensive, Co-Defensive), Shannon Tuozzo (Co-Offensive) and Daniella Jimenez (Rookie)
  • Shannon Tuozzo ranks in the first in the Atlantic 10 in goals, shots and points She is also 23rd in the NCAA in goals with 49
  • The graduate student also leads the team in points (62), assists (13), ground balls (24) and draw controls (87) and is fourth in caused turnovers (8)
  • Four other Patriots have tallied 20+ goals: Dahlia Trippel (26), Peyton Farley (23),  Chloe Reed (22) and Morgan Gunn (22)
  • Defensively,  Ciara Curtis has tallied a team-high 11 caused turnovers with 18 ground balls
  • Lauren Distad is second on the team with 80 draw controls, as she and Tuozzo are the only two teammates in the Atlantic 10 with 80+ draw controls each, while the team is second in the Atlantic 10 in draws per game
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
La Salle sits at 2-10 on the season and 0-7 in Atlantic 10 play. The Explorers own wins over FDU and Howard, the teams' only non-conference common opponent which La Salle downed 21-4. Most recently, the Explorers fell on the road at Duquesne 12-11.
 
On offense, Katie Johnson leads the Explorers across all three offensive categories with 27 goals, eight assists and 35 points. She has scored multiple goals in eight games and has tallied a hat trick in four contests.
 
Mackenzie Click is second on the team with 19 points and leads the squad with 58 draw controls and 20 ground balls on the season. Defensively, Grace Lord leads the effort with a team-high 20 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
 
UP NEXT
Mason returns home for its' final game of the regular season next Saturday, April 27. Opening draw with Saint Joseph's is set for noon for Senior Day.
