FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team (9-11, 3-1) defeated Villanova 4-0 on Sunday afternoon during a Senior Day celebration for the Green & Gold.
The Patriots claimed the victory in their final tuneup before the A-10 Championship, beginning April 25 in Orlando.
Mason's dynamic doubles duo of
Monil Lotlikar and
Niza Simunyola improved to 12-5 at the top spot this season with a 6-4 victory over Villanova's Monahan/Fraterelli combo.
Dustin Ha and
Momin Khan also won in doubles, claiming a 7-6 tiebreak victory to clinch the point for the Green & Gold.
In singles, Lotlikar won his eighth dual match at No. 1 with a 7-5, 6-0 triumph over Josh Robinson. Arends improved to 10-5 in dual action at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Will Monahan. And at No. 4, Khan took down Thomas Wakefield, 6-0, 6-1, to get to 8-6 in dual action this season.
The Patriots will learn their A-10 Championship seed this week and head to Orlando to begin competition on either April 25 or April 26.
