RICHMOND, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team split a pair of weekend Atlantic 10 contests to improve to 3-1 in conference play.
The Patriots fell to Richmond, 4-0, on Friday and swept Fordham, 5-0 on Saturday.
In the win over the Rams, the Patriots took the doubles point and all four contested singles matches to claim the victory.
In doubles, sophomore
Monil Lotlikar and junior
Niza Simunyola improved to 11-5 in dual action with a 6-2 win at No. 1. Junior
Jacco Arends and sophomore
Zavan Fahim also grabbed a doubles victory at No. 2, taking down Fordham's Mascne/Soemarno duo, 6-2.
In singles vs. Fordham, Lotlikar took down Nicholas Kanazirev, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 to improve to 3-1 in conference singles matches.
Arends won his match at No. 2, while graduate student
Momin Khan enjoyed a clean sweep (6-0, 6-0) of Stefan Stojanovic at No. 4. Freshman
Rayan El khalifi rounded out the Mason victories against the Rams with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 over Stephan Mozhaev.
The Patriots wrap up the weekend back in Fairfax with a 12 p.m. Senior Day matchup vs. Villanova on Sunday at the Mason Tennis Courts.
