FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team fell 4-2 in a midweek home match to Hampton on Wednesday afternoon.
The Patriots won a pair of singles matches but could not pull out the doubles point, which would've ultimately sent the match to a decisive fifth singles contest.
In doubles, Mason's tandem of junior
Jacco Arends and
Zavan Fahim picked up a 6-2 win at No. 2 over Shine Tokas and Benjamin Mwanza.
In singles, graduate student
Momin Khan won his match at No. 4, taking down Aryan Arora, 6-1, 6-3.
At No. 6, senior
Hayden Postin won his second in the last two matches while defeating Mwanza, 6-1, 6-0.
George Mason begins a busy weekend of action on Friday with an A-10 contest at Richmond (2 p.m.). The Patriots will remain in the capital to battle Fordham on Saturday at 10 a.m., then return to Fairfax for a Sunday Senior Day contest against Villanova (12 p.m.).
