FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball team (6-9) will continue their homestand this week, as they will host UMass Lowell (2-10) at the George Mason Softball Complex in Fairfax, Va., on Tuesday, March 5.
Tuesday's game was originally set for a single game, but the two schools agreed to play a doubleheader instead, with the first game scheduled for 1 p.m.
A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
Over the weekend, Mason had their home opener in Fairfax, where the Patriots finished with a 2-2 record. The Patriots
lost both games to Stony Brook on Saturday but ended up
sweeping Cornell in Sunday's doubleheader.
Highlights over the weekend included:
- Maddy Myers with a team-high five RBI, which included a two-run home run in Game #2 of the Cornell game.
- Marlaina Bozek leading the team in hits (8), batting average (.615), on-base percentage (.667) and slugging (.667). Bozek also recorded multiple hits in every game except one, where she went 1-for-2.
- Rachel Warrens had the second-most RBI on the weekend with four. The graduate student shortstop recorded two RBI in both Cornell games.
- Kamryn Inman recorded her first RBI triple in Game #2 of the Stony Brook doubleheader and displayed excellent defense at third base in the Cornell series.
- Carly Cooper pitched her fourth complete game of the season along with earning her third win, while Kylie Wilkerson earned her second win of the season.
- Harlowe Nigh pitched three innings in relief and surrendered zero runs throughout the weekend.
- Every Patriot in the batting lineup recorded a hit during Cornell series.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
UMass Lowell River Hawks (2-10)
The River Hawks went 1-2 over the weekend at the Towson DeMarini Invite in Towson, Md., where they lost to Providence twice and beat Towson once. However, their second Towson game and their match up with Howard was canceled on Saturday due to the rain.
Senior utility player Lea White (.357 / .400 / .429) leads the team in batting average and hits (15). She is also tied for the team lead in RBI (7) with sophomore first baseman Katelyn Fitzgerald (.333 / .391 / .381) and tied in doubles (3) with outfielders Cayla Tulley (.243 / .317 / .378) and Elizabeth Frederick (.275 / .370 / .350). Tulley is also the only River Hawk to have recorded a triple this season as well.
Two River Hawks have accounted for the team's three home runs this season. Two of those home runs were hit by senior infielder Morgan Fisher (.324 / .381 / .514), while the other was hit by freshman utility player Isabel Quintanilla (.184 / .311 / .289).
On the pitching side, UMass Lowell rotates between two pitchers in the circle. Graduate student Ryley White (2-4, 5.41 ERA) has the most strikeouts (42), pitched the most innings with 32.1 and has recorded the team's two wins on the year. Giana LaCerdra (0-4, 5.04 ERA) is the team's second most used pitcher, having tossed 25 innings, and has 10 strikeouts.
Two other River Hawks have pitched as well, which includes junior Jen Slanovec (0-1, 2.71 ERA), who has eight strikeouts, and Olivia DeCitise (0-1, 8.59 ERA), who has four stirkeouts.
This will be Mason's first time playing UMass Lowell in its program's history.

UP NEXT
Mason will hit the road for their fourth and last tournament of the regular season this weekend, March 8-10, as they will travel to Conway, S.C., to participate in the Beach Chicken Brawl, hosted by Coastal Carolina. Along with the Chanticleers, the Patriots will face Boston and Ohio. Friday and Saturday will feature doubleheaders against Coastal Carolina and Boston, while Sunday's finale will be a single game against Ohio.
