FAIRAFX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team will return to George Mason Stadium this weekend to host George Washington in an Atlantic 10 rivalry matchup.
The last time out, Mason got its' first Atlantic 10 win of the season, downing Duquesne on the road, 16-9. On the other hand, George Washington dropped its' third-straight game in a loss to Davidson, 18-9.
Saturday's game will mark the 22
nd all-time meeting between the two programs. Mason is 15-6 all-time against George Washington, but the Revolutionaries have won three of the last four. Last season, GW downed Mason in Washington, D.C. 13-11.
PATRIOT POINTS
- Shannon Tuozzo leads the Patriots with 41 goals and is leads the Atlantic 10 with 3.73 goals and is second with 4.82 points per game
- The graduate student also leads the team in points (53), assists (12), ground balls (22) and draw controls (71) and is second in caused turnovers (8)
- Three other Patriots have tallied 20+ goals: Dahlia Trippel (23), Chloe Reed (20) and Peyton Farley (20)
- Defensively, Tuozzo, Besick and Ciara Curtis have tallied a team-high eight caused turnovers
- Lauren Distad is second on the team with 67 draw controls, as she and Tuozzo are the only two teammates in the Atlantic 10 with 60+ draw controls
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
George Washington went 3-5 in non-conference action and is still looking for its' first Atlantic 10 victory of the year after dropping the first four games of conference play in 2024. The Revolutionaries own wins over Howard, Robert Morris and Youngstown State and common opponents of Howard (21-7 W), American (10-5 L) and William & Mary (12-11 L).
Two players have tallied 30+ points for GW so far this season, led by a team-high 36 points and 12 assists from Desiree Kleberg. Emma Nowakowski has scored a team-best 29 goals is second on the squad with 33 points. Her 2.64 goals per game are good for sixth in the Atlantic 10.
Defensively, Stella Ray has done a majority of the heavy lifting for the Revolutionaries and leads the team with 71 draw controls, 34 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Ray's 2.83 ground balls per game and 5.92 draw controls per game both rank second in the conference. Goalkeeper Mia Caro has started all but the first game of the season and has played 600+ minutes for the Revs and ranks fourth in the A-10 with 6.58 saves per game.

George Mason will get back on the road for another Atlantic 10 matchup, this time with Davidson College on Saturday, April 6. Opening draw with the Wildcats is set for noon.
