Fairfax, Va.-- The George Mason women's tennis team opened its outdoor home season against Rhode Island on Friday. The Rams extended its winning streak to nine matches with a 4-0 win against the Patriots (3-9).
Rhode Island (10-2) earned the first point by taking the top two doubles matches.
Cenan Liu and
Dana Edson, Mason's No. 3 team, defeated URI's Ava Grnja and Steph Hylton.
In singles action, Rhode Island earned wins at the top two singles matches and the No. 4 singles match.
"This is by far the toughest schedule while I've been coaching at Mason," said Head Coach Steve Curtis. "The results don't always show it, but we continue to improve."
