GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Patriots took a two-run lead into the ninth but fell to North Carolina A&T, 5-4, in the second game of the series on Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, N.C.

Mason (9-9) redshirt sophomore starter Konner Eaton and North Carolina A&T (13-5) junior starter Diego Barrett kept the game scoreless through the first four innings.  Eaton escaped bases loaded jams in both the first and the fourth inning with no damage.

In the top of the fifth, junior first baseman Reece Woody led off with his second home run of the season, a blast to right-center, to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.

The Aggies responded in the home half of the fifth against Mason freshman Ty Uchman.  Senior left fielder Michael Logan led off with a double and graduate student first baseman Tatsunori Negishi hit a two-run home run to make it a 2-1 game.

In the top of the seventh, junior designated hitter Connor Dykstra led off with a walk and Woody followed with a single.  After a sacrifice bunt by graduate student catcher Socrates Bardatsos, freshman Owen Hull stepped to the plate as a pinch hitter and drove in a run with a groundout to tie the game.

With one out in the top of the eighth, senior center fielder Jordan Smith singled to third base and sophomore right fielder James Quinn-Irons walked.  Dykstra then ripped a two-run double to left field to propel the Patriots to a 4-2 lead.

The Aggies put together a one-out rally in the bottom of the ninth.  After back-to-back singles, Logan hit a three-run home run to left-center to lift North Carolina A&T to the 5-4 walk-off win.

For the Patriots, Eaton tossed 4.0 innings of one-hit ball in a no-decision.  He struck out five and walked five.  Uchman allowed two runs on two hits in 1.0 inning of work.  Junior Britt Yount gave up two runs on three hits in 3.1 innings.  Senior Kyle Menaker (1-1) allowed one run on one hit and took the loss.

For the Aggies, Barrett allowed two runs on two hits in 6.0 innings in a no-decision.  Senior Jake Delisi (2-1) gave up two runs on four hits in 3.0 innings and picked up the win.

Dykstra went 1-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored.  Woody was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.  Smith finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The Patriots and Aggies wrap up the series on Sunday afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, N.C.
