Track and Field Back In Action This Weekend for the Black and Gold Invite

George Mason track and field is back in action with the outdoor season starting tomorrow in the Black and Gold Invite. The meet will begin at 11 am on Friday at the UCF Track and Field Complex. It will be a two-day event with the stating time being 10 am on Saturday.
 
The first event will be the women's discus with the men's to follow. Only field events will be happening from 11 am to 5 pm and the running events are expected to start at 6 pm. The women's 400m hurdles will inaugurate the running events and the men's 5000m will conclude the first day of the Black and Gold Invite at 8:45 pm. 
 
The second day of the meet will begin at 10 am with all the field events to happen before the running events begin. The running events will begin at 12 pm with the women's 4x100m relay and the meet will conclude at 3:30 pm with the men's 4x400m relay. 

George Mason will also be competing in the Dan Stimson Memorial Invitational held by William and Mary on March 16th. The meet is set to begin at 9:30 am with the women's javelin throw and is expected to end at 5 pm with the men's 4x400m relays. 
 
Last time out, Mason competed in the A-10 Indoor Championships where they placed 2nd in the men's competition and 3rd in this women's competition. The Patriots exceeded the expectations and will look forward to continuing that momentum into the outdoor season. Amber Askelson, Walt Bannerman, Jarett Flaker, Alex Lombardo, Joseph Queen, Caleb Hymans, and Paul McClain all enter the new season as gold medalists. Arsalan Yaqubi, Mason Love, Abby Weening, Geni Roberts, and Joseph Queen earned the silver medal at the A-10 Championships. Arun Mantena, Colton Ocetnik, Kate O'Neill, Terrian Smith, Michka-Mae Hyde, Kelsey Sebwe, Abby Weening, Calvin Meyer, Isaiah Carter, Ryan Brooks, and Jarett Flaker went home with a bronze medal.
