FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team (1-3) will look to start its first winning streak of the spring season Saturday night when the Patriots battle Loyola (Md.) at the Burke Racquet & Swim Club.
First serve is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
Loyola (Md.) is 1-0 to begin the season after opening with a 5-2 win against Hampton on Feb. 2 in Baltimore.
Mason is coming off a 5-2 triumph over Mary Washington on Feb. 3 in Fredericksburg.
Mason won matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles against the Eagles (0-1). Patriot of the Week
Monil Lotlikar and junior
Niza Simunyola picked up an 8-4 victory at the top spot, while junior Jacco Adrends and graduate student
Momin Khan claimed an 8-5 win at No. 2.
In singles, Lotlikar earned his second point of the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 over Rishi Charan Shankar.
The Patriots also claimed victories at the second, third and fourth singles positions.
After Saturday's match, the Green & Gold hit the road for matches at James Madison (Feb. 17) and Virginia Tech (Feb. 18).
