The George Mason women's tennis team battled two of the top teams in Virginia this weekend, dropping matches to Richmond and William & Mary.
"We battled two great teams this weekend," said coach Steve Curtis. "We fell short but we do continue to improve in many aspects. Now we head to the outdoor season and try to pick up some wins over spring break."
On Saturday night, The University of Richmond women's tennis team defeated the Patriots, 4-0, at the Burke Racquet and Swim Club. The Spiders got singles wins at No. 1, 2, and 4 before the match ended.
William & Mary (4-4) swept doubles and then won all six singles matches, including five in straight sets, to win 7-0 on Sunday afternoon in Williamsburg. The singles match at No. 5 went to the tiebreaker set. Patriots
Dana Edson won the first set 7-5 before dropping the second 6-0 and the tiebreaker 10-2.
