BURKE, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team (2-3) dispatched of visiting Loyola Maryland (1-1), 7-0, on Saturday night at the Burke Racquet & Swim Club.
The victory marked Mason's second win in a row.
The Patriots took two of three doubles matches to earn the opening point. At No. 2, junior
Jacco Arends and graduate student
Momin Khan cruised to a 6-1 win over Nick Lawliss and Harry Zeiders. Then at No. 3, sophomore
Alvaro Pedraza and junior
Dustin Ha picked up a 6-1 triumph over Matt Cardano and Cristian Pemueller.
In singles, sophomore
Monil Lotlikar easily defeated Matt Cardano at No. 1 in a straight sets sweep (6-0, 6-2). It was the Bangalore, India, native's second-straight win at the top spot.
At No. 2, Arends earned his second point for the Patriots with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Oliver Davey.
Junior
Niza Simunyola won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while graduate student
Momin Khan took down Nick Haggar with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
At No. 5, Pedraza defeated Ryan Boland, 6-2, 6-3, while senior
Hayden Postin won at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2.
Next up, the Green & Gold hit the road for matches at James Madison (Feb. 17) and Virginia Tech (Feb. 18).
