Fairfax, Va. -- The George Mason women's tennis team opens its 2024 spring schedule at Atlantic 10 conference foe VCU in Richmond on Friday, January 26 at 6 p.m.
The Rams (2-0) opened its season last week, defeating East Carolina and Temple.
The Patriots are led by
Ruju Chauhan, earning a ITA Ranking after the fall season. The grad transfer from Prairie View A&M earned a #116 ranking after a successful fall, winning two tournaments and finishing with a 7-1 overall record.
Chauman finished the fall winning two tournaments. The Ahmedabad, India native was crowned champion of Flight C at the Bill and Mary Moore Invitational and the Maryland Flight at the Bedford Cup.
Several players finished with winning records in the fall.
Cenan Liu finished with a 5-4 record, while
Maitree Diksha Rout notched a 4-2 record. Liu was runner-up in the Maryland Flight at the Bedford Cup.
Rout teamed up with Chaumen in doubles action and won the doubles North Flight at the Bedford Cup. The team earned a 4-2 record.
Mason's doubles team found success in the fall tournament season. The Patriots team of
Lauren Splett and
Brooklyn Siegel as well as the
Jenin Alasadi and
Emily Wirt due each finished with 5-3 records.
