FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's and men's swimming and diving teams are on the road to face Old Dominion Saturday with the meet schedule to begin at noon at Scrap Chandler Pool in Norfolk, Va.

The Patriots swept the Monarchs last season on Jan. 28, 2023 in Norfolk, Va. The Mason women's team posted a 140-122 win and the men's team recorded a 157-105 victory.

The Mason men's team has a dual record of 3-1 and the women's team has a dual record of 3-4 on the season.

Last time out, the men's team defeated Fairfield, 181-119, last Saturday at Savage Natatorium in Harrisonburg, Va. The women's team downed Fairfield, 152-147 and fell to James Madison, 207.87.

The men's team won nine events on the day, including the top spot in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:22.59) and 400-yard medley relay (3:24.07).

Alex Crown won the 1000-yard freestyle (9:43.34) and placed second in the 200-yard IM (1:56.57).

Tate Anderson touched the wall first in both the 100-yard backstroke (51.60) and 50-yard freestyle (21.13).

Joshua Hochard finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (47.05), junior
Zane Roberts won the 100-yard breaststroke (58.18), freshman
Ian Rodgers claimed the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.25) and freshman
Colin Murtaugh won the 100-ayrd butterfly (51.90).

On the women's side in last week's tri-meet, the Patriots won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:36.22) and placed second in the 400-yard medley relay (3:54.20).

Ali Tyler touched the wall second in the 100-yard freestyle (52.96) and was third in the 50-yard freestyle (23.96).

Peyton Brehmer placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (57.91) and sophomore
Angelina Zeidan took second in the 200-yard IM (2:11.62).

SCOUTING OLD DOMINION

The Old Dominion men's team defeated William & Mary, 164-98 on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Scrap Chandler Pool in Norfolk. The Monarchs women's team fell to the Tribe (213-48) and East Carolina (207-54).

On the men's side, freshman Yagiz Ari took the top spot in both the 100-yard freestyle (9:31.72) and 500-yard freestyle (4:37.08).Â

Freshman Zachary Redding won the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.08), junior Gustaf Hansson claimed the 100-yard backstroke (50.25) and freshman Jamie Cleaver touched the wall first in both the 100-yard butterfly (49.73) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.76).

On the women's side, senior Martina Ciriesi placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.93) while freshman Lauren Masters was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (58.18) and placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.49).

The Patriots conclude the regular season when they host Towson on Saturday, Jan. 28 at noon at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
