FINAL RESULTS
Fairfax, Va. – In its first tournament of the season, the George Mason men's golf team finished third at the Red Bandanna Invitational held at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y. West Virginia overtook host Boston College in the final round to win the 15-team tournament.
The Patriots scored a team 12-over par in the final round to finish three strokes ahead of Delaware and Longwood, who finished tied for fourth.
Three Patriots finished in the top-15 in the field of 84 golfers, led by sophomore
Aryan Vuradi (73-75-72=220).
Vuradi finished tied for ninth overall with his best round of the tournament. The Brambleton, Va. native scored five birdies and five bogeys to finish level par.
Freshman JJ Powell began his collegiate career with a 13th place finish, while senior
Nikita Gubenko (76-72-76=244) finished tied for 15th.
Samir Davidov rounded out the Patriots scoring with a three-over-par 75 in the final round (77-74-75=226) to finish tied for 21st overall.
Mason travels to North Carolina to participate in the River Run Collegiate, hosted by conference foe Davidson, September 11-12.
