Fairfax- George Mason Men's cross country has claimed the top spot and finished 1st at the CNU cross country invitational.
Mason Love crossed the finish line first (24:27.1) from 125 runners and right behind him coming in second was
Wesley Bond (24:36.2).
Mason Love and
Wesley Bond set the tempo from the very beginning for GMU and eventually pushing to the front to claim the first two spots.
George Mason had two more runners finishing in the Top 10, Nick Emmert finishing 6th with a time of 25:08.3 and the newcomer,
Gavin Mogck, has proved himself that he is ready to compete finishing in 8th with a time of 25:14.4.
"In general, we were pleased with today's outcome" said Coach Gerard. "We emphasized packing up and working together closely until pretty late in each race and then working on closing hard so it was good to see the positive results despite folks holding back through a good portion of each race. Most of our front men were fairly far back in the race until after 3 miles. Mason, Wes and Nick, especially, closed very hard and ran down a number of men with significant leads on them".
George Mason cross country will be back in action, September 30th at Bethlehem, Pa.
