FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis program put together an outstanding team performance to begin the fall slate at this past weekend's Mary Washington Invitational.
Patriot student-athletes combined to go 18-7 In singles and a sizzling 10-2 doubles during a weekend of excellent results.
Sophomore and 2023 All-Atlantic 10 Second Team selection led the Patriots with a perfect 3-0 singles record at the top line of the event. He also partnered with junior
Niza Simunyola to go 2-1 in doubles. His singles efforts included a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Longwood's Timeo Puech. Lotlikar and Simunyola also took down Puech and his partner Peter Belosevic, 8-6, in doubles.
Also suiting up against some of the top competition at the event, sophomore
Alvaro Pedraza and junior
Jacco Arends each went 2-1 in singles action. They also combined to tally a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles, including an 8-4 victory over Alejandro Hernandez and Alejandro Uribe of Longwood.
Graduate student
Momin Khan and senior
Hayden Postin also went a perfect 3-0 together in doubles. In addition, Postin upped his overall mark to a perfect 6-0 with three wins in singles.
Sophomore
Zavan Fahim also tallied a 3-0 singles mark, while freshman
Rayan El khalifi made his Mason debut and tallied a 2-1 overall singles ledger. Graduate student
Herman Jentoft chipped in a singles win and went 2-1 in doubles alongside Fahim.
The Patriots return to action Sept. 15-17 at the Joe Hunt Invitation on the campus of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
