Fairfax, Va. -- The women's tennis team participated in its first tournament of the season at the Bill and Mary Moore Invitational in Annapolis this weekend.
 
Grad student Ruju Chauman was crowned champion of Flight C. The grad student won four straight matches, all in extra sets to win to the Championship. She defeated Manci Pal, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 in the final match.
 
Paired up in doubles, Brooklyn Siegel and Lauren Splett won the consolation finals against defeating Navy's Ally Gaborik/Maggid Forkner, 6-3

Avleen Waraich and Mailys Faur each won their opening match before bowing out in the following matches.
 
The Patriots will next hit the courts at the Bedford Cup hosted by the University of Maryland, Sept. 22-24.
