FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason senior Shannon Tuozzo was named to the 2023 VaSID University Division Women's Lacrosse All-State Second Team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors on Monday.
 
The midfielder had a career season, setting new personal bests in goals, single-game goals, draw controls and single game draw controls. She also etched her name into the George Mason lacrosse record books several times, including the record for single-game goals with nine in a 13-11 win over La Salle.
 
Tuozzo started all 15 games for the Patriots and led the team in goals, assists, points and draw controls. Among Atlantic 10 opponents, she ranked sixth in goals per game (2.73) and draw controls per game (4.33). A consistent contributor, Tuozzo scored a hat-trick in nine games and won at least one draw control in all but one contest.
 
The Hauppauge, N.Y. native finished her senior campaign with 41 goals, seven assists, 48 points and 65 draw controls. Defensively, she contributed 12 ground balls and eight caused turnovers, numbers that put her in the top-five of the team in both categories. 
 
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
