FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason lacrosse head coach
Kara Mupo has announced that another transfer will join the team beginning in the fall of 2023.
Riley Ellis, a rising sophomore midfielder, will join the Patriots from Lehigh University after playing her freshman season as a Hawk.
A product of East Chapel High School in Chapel Hill, N.C., Ellis was named an All-American her senior year in 2022. She was also a two-time All-State honoree and a four-time All-Conference honoree in her four-year career on the varsity squad. A three-sport athlete also starring in volleyball and basketball, Ellis was a captain of all three sports her senior year.
Also shining in the classroom, she was a member of the National Honor Society and was named an Academic All-American her senior year.
As a midfielder at Lehigh, she appeared in 12 games, making four starts in her rookie season. Ellis scored one goal and dished out one assist and scooped up three ground balls.
"We are thrilled to welcome Riley to our program," said Coach Mupo. "She joins us from a highly competitive Lehigh program with experiences playing some of the top programs in the country in the Patriot League. Her experience combined with her skill set on both ends of the ball will be crucial to our midfield. The future is bright in Mason Nation!"
