ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
FAIRFAX, Va. – A pair of George Mason women's tennis student-athletes have been named to All-Conference Teams, the league office announced Tuesday.
Senior
Paige La earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team for the third consecutive season. Graduate student
Taylor Garcia earned All-Conference 10 Second Team honors in her only season with the Patriots. Both student-athletes excelled in the classroom, each garnering Academic All-Conference.
It's the fourth time in school history that Mason has featured two student-athletes on the All-Atlantic 10 teams.
"These awards are well deserved," said Head Coach Steve Curtis. "Paige and Taylor set very high standards for the program with their level of play, work ethic, competitiveness and leadership."
The two top players led Mason to a No. 8 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship, its highest seed since joining the conference in 2014.
La finished a decorated career playing all her singles matches from the top position for Mason. The Fairfax, native joined the Century Club by garnering 100 career wins. She is the only Patriot to be voted on the top team since joining the conference in 2012-13.
The senior finished 12-9 in singles action and 14-12 in doubles at No. 1 with grad student
Taylor Garcia, including 9-7 in dual action.
In her first season with the Patriots, grad student
Taylor Garcia led the team with 15 wins (15-9) from the second position. She notched a 10-5 record in dual action.
