Fairfax, Va.
– George Mason golfer Aryan Vuradi finished fifth at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship, the most culturally significant championship in collegiate golf. The three-round tournament was held at the Shoal Creek Club and Bent Brook Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama, May 8-10.

The tournament annually hosts student-athletes enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving institutions, and other minority-serving educational institutions. There were three men's divisions in the championship, Men's Team Championship 1 and 2, and a Men's Individual Championship.

Vuradi was consistent during the three day championship, carding a 73 in each of the rounds for a four-over-par tournament. The freshman played the 7,025-yard, par 72 Shoal Creek Club course twice, carding five birdies. Vuradi was two-over-par in the second round played at the Bent Brook Golf Course.

The Championship was a 54-hole, stroke-play event open to all minority men and women student-athletes playing collegiate golf at the Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA level, or participants who are enrolled in one of the PGA of America's PGA Golf Management University Programs.

The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC) was created in 1986 to highlight competitive golf programs at the most underserved and underrepresented Minority-Serving Institutions in the country, and educate and inspire student-athletes to pursue career opportunities in the business of golf and beyond. PWCC is considered the most culturally significant championship in collegiate golf (76% of 2022 players identified as "non-white").
