FAIRFAX, Va. – Despite a career-high six points from junior
Kate Elam, the George Mason women's lacrosse team fell to Atlantic 10 foe Davidson, 17-9, at home on Saturday.
Elam's four goals and two assists are both career-highs, with the four goal's matching her best. It is the third-straight game she has notched four tallies and has 12 goals and three assists in that span.
The Patriots (2-10, 2-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first two minutes of the contest and held Davidson scoreless until 5:45 remaining in the first quarter. However, Davidson scored on a free position opportunity with just 10 seconds remaining to take back the lead.
The two teams traded goals in the second quarter, highlighted by two from Elam, with her second tying the game at six-a-side on a free position opportunity. Davidson would once again score the last goal of the quarter with 1:04 left in the half to regain a lead they would not give back up.
