Patriots Host Wildcats in A10 Contest

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team will welcome the Davidson Wildcats to Fairfax on Saturday in Atlantic 10 action.
 
In the 13th all-time meeting between the two programs, the Patriots will look to get their first win over the Wildcats in four years and break a 6-6 tie in the series. Davidson has won the last three games, with Mason's last win coming in North Carolina on April 5, 2019.
 
Both teams are coming off of weekend losses to Atlantic 10 opponents. Davidson's 14-4 loss to No. 16 UMass was their first conference loss of the season who remains the last undefeated team in the conference. Meanwhile, Mason dropped a tight rivalry battle to George Washington on the road, 13-11.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
  • Senior Shannon Tuozzo recorded her fifth and sixth hat-tricks of the season in a 1-1 week for the Patriots last week. She has 31 goals on the season, averaging 2.82 per game (4th, A-10). She is also sixth in the A-10 with 4.27 draw control wins per game
  • In back-to-back games, junior Kate Elam scored a career-high four goals for Mason and is now tied for third on the team with 14 goals
  • Senior Morgan Gunn recorded three goals and one assist in both contests last week, bringing her season totals to 15 goals, five assists and 20 points, good for second on the team
  • Defensively, Ciara Curtis leads the Patriots with 16 ground balls while Melanie Hutchinson leads Mason with 11 caused turnovers
  • Senior Meghan Deehan ranks fifth in the Atlantic 10 with 8.45 saves per game and is second on the team with 14 ground balls
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Davidson boasts a top-3 offense in the Atlantic 10, ranking second in shot percentage (.475), third in goals per game (13.82) and second in assists per game (7.36). 
 
Leading the offense is Grace Fahey who has scored a team-best 31 goals (7th, A-10) and 52 points. She is also second on the team with 21 assists. Erin Cooke sits atop the Atlantic 10 with 2.27 assists per game with 26 total, and is second on the team with 46 points.
 
Julianne Carey is first on the team with 74 draw controls (1st, A-10) and second with 22 goals. Defensively, Noelle Cegielski is first on the team with 25 ground balls and Margaret Anne Warner is first in caused turnovers with 22. Preseason Honorable Mention All-American Amanda Monahan ranks fourth in the A-10 with a .433 save percentage while contributing over seven saves per game.

Mason will have a week break before traveling north to St. Bonaventure to take on the Bonnies on Saturday, April 15 at 12 p.m.
