Orlando, Fla. -- The George Mason University women's tennis team completed its season at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Tennis Championships today with a 4-0 setback to Saint Louis at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The Billikens will move on to the quarterfinals with a match tomorrow against top-seeded VCU.

SLU earned the first point in doubles action with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The three singles points came in the top three matches. The matches in Nos 4-6 were all tied when Saint Louis earned the clinching point in the top singles match.
 
The Billikens Norhan Hesham earned the first singles point in the No. 2 match, 6-3, 6-2 against the Patriots Taylor Garcia. The grad student finished her season with a team-leading 15 wins (15-10).

At the No. 3 position, Fiorella Duran defeated Mason Junior Emily Wirt, 6-4, 6-1.

St. Louis' Elizabeth Mintusova earned a 6-3, 6-4, decision in the No. 1 singles match against Paige La. The Fairfax, native finished a decorated career playing all her singles matches from the top position for the Patriots.
 
Three close matches went unfinished after the fourth Saint Louis point was earned. 
 
The Patriots Ashley Fitz-Patrick split the first two sets with the Billikens Sandra Gines, and was just into the tiebreaker set at No. 6 singles before the match went unfinished. After losing the first set, Patriots Jackie Nannery and Lauren Splett were tied, 6-6, with their Saint Louis opponent in the second.

Grad student Jackie Nannery  finishing her career at Mason with more than 100 wins.
 
Senior Ashley Fitz-Patrick finished her last season with a 12-9 record in No. 4 through No. 6 singles matches, including 4-2 at No. 5. Sophomore Lauren Splett was 5-2 from the No. 6 slots in dual action. Splett and Nannery own a 10-9 record, 8-8 in dual action.

Mason finished the season with a 10-7 record.
