FAIRFAX, Va. – Freshman
Tate Anderson has been selected Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division Men's Rookie Swimmer of the Year and Second Team All-State, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Tyler Lentine also earned VaSID Second Team All-State honors.
The VaSID Second Team All-State selections went to Anderson in the backstroke, Clabeaux in the breaststroke, Nguyen in the sprint freestyle and Lentine in the breaststroke.
Anderson, a native of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., won three individual medals and three relay medals at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championships.
Anderson claimed the A-10 championship in the 200-yard freestyle (1:35.93), won the silver in the 200-yard backstroke (1:44.61) and took the bronze in the 200-yard IM (1:47.01).
As part of three relay teams to take a spot on the podium, Anderson won silver in the 400-yard medley relay (3:14.47) and bronze in both the 400-yard freestyle (2:56.41) and 800-yard freestyle (6:33.43).
Anderson recorded 19 top-three performances during the season, with 11 first-place, five second-place and three three-place results.
Selected A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week twice during the season, Anderson earned the honor for the first time after winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.87), 500-yard freestyle (4:42.17) and 200-yard backstroke (1:52.16) to help the Patriots to a dual meet win over Towson on Oct. 8 at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
Anderson again took conference rookie honors after winning three individual events, the 50-yard backstroke (23.73), 100-yard backstroke (50.37) and 200-yard backstroke (1:50.48) and helped the Patriots to two relay victories in Mason's win over Davidson at the Richmond Duals Oct. 21-22.
Anderson won both the 100-yard backstroke (50.78) and 200-yard backstroke (1:50.41) vs. UMBC on Jan. 21, placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:47.82) at the Patriot Invitational Nov. 17-19) and took second in the 200-yard backstroke (50.10) at the A-10 Classic Oct. 29-30.
Clabeaux, from Fairfax, Va., won two individual Atlantic 10 championships, an individual silver medal and three relay medals (2 gold, 1 silver) at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championships.
Clabeaux claimed the A-10 title in the 100-yard breaststroke for the second straight year with a new meet record time of 59.81. She also took the top spot with the A-10 title in the 200-yard breaststroke with a new meet record time of 2:11.27.
Named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team for the second straight year, Clabeaux also won the silver medal in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:59.63.
Clabeaux was a member of three relay teams that earned a medal at the A-10 Championships, winning gold in the 400-yard medley relay with a new meet record (3:36.40), gold in the 400-yard freestyle relay for the second straight year (3:17.94) and a silver medal as part of the 200-yard medley relay team (1:39.75).
It's the fourth time that Clabeaux has been selected VaSID Second Team All-State (2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23).
Clabeaux, who recorded 14 first place and three second-place finishes during the season, competed at the 2022 U.S. Open in Greensboro, N.C.
Lentine, a native of Great Falls, Va., earned two individual medals and two relay medals at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championships.
Lentine won the bronze in both the 100-yard breaststroke (54.00) and 200-yard breaststroke (1:57.73). He was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that claimed the silver medal (1:27.51) and the 400-yard medley relay team that took the bronze medal (3:14.47).
During the season, Lentine posted 13 top-three performances with five first-place, five second-place and three third-place results.
At the Patriot Invitational held Nov. 17-19, Lentine placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:02.78) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.27). At the A-10 Classic Oct. 29-30, he placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.17) and was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.16).
Lentine took the top spot in both the 100-yard breaststroke (57.93) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.98) at the Richmond Duals Oct. 21-22 and won both the 100-yard breaststroke (56.59) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:03.29) against Towson Oct. 8.
Nguyen, from Fairfax, Va., won the bronze as part of the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:33.43) at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championships. He also placed eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (45.16), ninth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.07) and 11th in the 200-yard IM (1:48.84) at the conference championships.
Named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team for the second straight year, Nguyen took second in the 100-yard freestyle (47.18) and was fourth in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.71) and 200-yard IM (1:57/95) vs. UMBC (Jan. 21).
At Patriot invitational (Nov. 17-19), Nguyen placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.55) and 13th in the 100-yard freestyle (46.08). At the A-10 Classic, Nguyen posted a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (46.27) and was 11th in the 200-yard IM (1:57.97).
