Fairfax, Va. – After losing a close match yesterday, the George Mason women's tennis team turned the script for an Atlantic 10 Conference win against the Dayton Flyers (8-12, 2-4) at the George Mason Tennis Complex. The Patriots improve to 10-5, 2-2 in the Atlantic 10.

In a back and forth battle all day, the Patriots Ashley Fitz-Patrick won the final and deciding point for the Mason win. 

"Another great team win with Ashley securing the victory for us, she has been clutch all season," said Head Coach Steve Curtis.

The Patriots won the tightly contested doubles point to begin the match. Mason's top team of Paige La and Taylor Garcia earned its 14th win of the season, 6-4. Dayton won in tiebreak at No. 2, 7-6 (7-4). Mason clinched the point with a 7-5 win at No. 3 by Jackie Nannery and Lauren Splett, earning the Mason duo its 10th win of the year.

It was a see-saw battle in singles action, beginning with a Dayton win at No. 3 to tie the match early.

Jackie Nannery won, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4 singles to put the Patriots back on top, 2-1. With wins at both singles and doubles, the grad student earned her 100th career win today.

After another Flyer win, No. 2 singles was won by Mason's grad student Taylor Garcia. 

The score was tied going into the final match at No. 6 singles after a Dayton win at No. 1 singles.

After dropping the first set, Ashley Fitz-Patrick bounced back in the second set, 7-6(2), before claiming the win in the tiebreaker set, 6-3. Fitz-Patrick is 8-3 in dual action this spring.

Up Next: Mason will host A10 foe St. Joseph's on Saturday, April 22 on Senior Day. The presentations for the five seniors will take place at 12:30 p.m., before the 1p.m. match.
