FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason lacrosse team will do battle with the Ducks of Oregon on Sunday, March 5, at George Mason Stadium.
At halftime, Mason will honor alumni of the program, including Oregon head coach Chelsea Hoffmann (previously Chelsea Gamble) at halftime for their contributions and commitment to the program as players and alumni.
This is the fourth meeting all-time between the two teams, including the second straight. The Ducks have won all three, but Mason fell by just a three-goal margin (14-11) last season out west.
Oregon is coming off of a loss in their first road game of the season on Friday to Navy, 15-9. Mason also fell to Campbell, 10-7, at home on Wednesday afternoon.
PATRIOT POINTS
- The Patriots were led by another hat trick from senior Shannon Tuozzo, who has netted at least three goals for the third time this season and owns a team-best 15 points in 2023. She also won a career-high seven draw controls against the Camels and now leads the team with 16 wins at the circle
- Six different Patriots registered a point, with five goal scorers and Melanie Hutchinson recording the lone assist for Mason. She also had a team-high two caused turnovers and two ground balls
- Senior Meghan Deehan once again stood strong in net, making eight saves while scooping up two ground balls. She is averaging just under 10 saves per game with a .434 save percentage
- Despite putting opponents on the free position hashes 22 times, the Mason defense has allowed just five goals on free position attempts
SCOUTING THE DUCKS
Oregon is led offensively by Morgan McCarthy, who has netted 12 goals on the season. She is the only Duck to have scored double-digit goals and is averaging a hat trick per game. She is also the team-leader in draw controls (12) and free-position goals (3). Gabby Cleveland is second in scoring with seven goals and Lauren Rismani has dished out a team-high nine assists to go with one goal for 10 points.
Defensively, Logan Gierke leads Oregon with eight ground balls and eight caused turnovers. In the net, Cassidy Eckert has started the last three games, making 19 saves with a save percentage of .413 and has scooped up four ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Mason will get back on the road for the first time in three weeks when it travels to Saint Joseph's for their Atlantic 10 opener. Opening draw in Philadelphia is set for 1 p.m.
