FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday at Richmond for its' last mid-week game of the season.
This is the 21
st all-time meeting between the in-state rivals, with Richmond holding a narrow 11-9 edge over Mason. The Patriots' last win over the Spiders came in overtime in 2019, but since then, Richmond has won four-straight.
Both teams are coming off of their first Atlantic 10 wins of the season where both squads were trailing in the third quarter. Mason scored six unanswered to come out with a 13-11 victory over La Salle while Richmond outscored VCU 6-1 in the fourth quarter for a 12-9 win.

- Senior Shannon Tuozzo had a record-setting day on Saturday, scoring a George Mason all-time high nine goals against La Salle, which is also the most goals by a player in the Atlantic 10 this season. Tuozzo also won a career-high 11 draw controls.
- Tuozzo ranks first on the team with 22 goals, averaging 2.75 per game (5th, A-10), and first with 30 draw controls
- Senior Chloe Reed scored two goals and had her first multi-assist game of her career, dishing out two against La Salle. She is now second on the team with 10 goals and 14 points
- Junior Kate Elam matched her season-high of two goals against La Salle
- Defensively, Kaitlyn Bestick, Ciara Curtis and Gabby Rizzio lead the Patriots with 10 ground balls each. Melanie Hutchinson leads Mason with eight caused turnovers
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
Arden Tierney leads Richmond with 36 points (4.0 ppg, 4
th A-10), 17 assists and 59 draw controls and is second with 19 goals. She has registered at least one point in every game this season and pulled down a season-best 12 draw controls against Navy. Lindsey Frank is first on the team with 27 goals, averaging a hat-trick per game, and is second with 33 points and 26 draw controls.
Defensively, Maggie O'Brien leads the Spiders with 21 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. She is also third on the team with 16 draw controls. In net, two goals have gotten significant playing time, with Emilie Bloyer playing all 132 minutes of the last two games. Against then-No. 10 Virginia, she made four saves in overtime for the upset win, and is averaging six saves per game in that stretch.
