FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason Wrestling will host the Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 3-4 at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Va.
In its fourth season in the MAC, Mason is hosting the event for the first time. The Patriots last hosted a wrestling conference tournament in 2019, the final season of the Eastern Wrestling League.
MAC QUALIFIER ALLOCATIONS FOR 2023 NCAA D1 WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
All 13 MAC wrestling programs will compete in the MAC Wrestling Championships March 3-4 to determine which wrestlers will qualify for the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships, which take place March 16-18 at BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The NCAA has announced the qualifier allocations for the 2023 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and the Mid-American Conference has received 23 qualifier allocations, the fifth highest of any Division I Wrestling Conference.

Logan Messer (174) each qualified the spot for the conference.
After all the conference tournaments have concluded, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will meet in-person to select the remaining 46 at-large qualifiers, which will be announced on March 7, while brackets and seeding will be announced on NCAA.com at 8 p.m. on March 8. All weight classes will consist of 33 wrestlers.
GEORGE MASON WRESTLERS
The Patriots finished the regular season 11-8 overall, 3-4 in the MAC. The 11 wins for the Green and Gold are the most wins in a season since the 2007-08 season when the Patriots finished with a 13-5 record.

125 | Markel Baker
Freshman
Markel Baker made an impact in his first collegiate season finishing with a team-high 25 wins. Baker finished 5-1 in the MAC with decisions against Bronson Garber (Bloomsburg), Joey Fischer (Clarion) and Aiden Lewis (Edinboro). He had a major decision against Cleveland State's Ben Aranda and a technical fall vs. Davian Guanaluato (SIUE). Rider's Tyler Klinsky edged Baker, 3-1 in the final regular season match.

Schellpfeffer replaced
Josh Jones for the final two dual matches of the season. The junior finished 0-2 in the MAC, including losses to #31 Gable Strickland (Lock Haven) and Rider's Richie Koehler.
141 | Anthony Glasl
Glasl finished the season about .500 (15-12). In MAC action, the junior recorded a 2-3 record, with wins against Edinboro's Caleb Rea and Lock Haven's Zack Zeamer. In his only match againts a ranked opponent, #29 McKenzie Bell earned a major decision against Glasl.

Nathan Higley was one of three Patriots to notch 20 wins (21-14). He finished 3-3 in the MAC duals, including two falls against Bloomsburg's William Morrow and SIEU's Alex Peralta. Higley earned a decision agasint Cleveland State's Doug Ther.

Ranked #25 in the NCAA Wrestling Coaches Poll at 157,
Peter Pappas finished the season 19-3. The Grad student started the season 13-1 before sitting out for a month with an injury. He returned to finished the season with an 8-2 record. Ranked 4
th in the MAC, Pappas finished with a 4-1 record in the conference, including a major decision against Bloomsburg's Cade Balestrini (Dec. 2). The Plainview, N.Y. native earned decisions against Luke Kemerer (Edinboro), Caine Tyus (SIEU), and Colton Washleski (Rider).

Veteran wrestling
Drew Dickson earned a .500 record on the mat this season, 15-15. The Junior finished 4-2 in the MAC with falls against Bloomsburg's Josh Bonomo (Dec. 2) and Cleveland State's Daniel Patten (Jan. 28), as well as decisions against Max Kirby (Edinboro) and Rider's Hunter May's (Feb. 17).

Sophomore
Logan Messer (23-6) earned his career 50th victory (50-15) against Lock Haven on Feb. 11. Messer finished 4-2 in the MAC, including a 3-1 decision against Edinboro's #22 Jared McGill (Jan. 21). The sophomore earned a technical fall against Cleveland State's JR Reed (Jan. 28). In the 2022 MAC Championship Messer finished fourth, the Patriots second-best finish in the MAC tournament in the three-year history for Mason.
184 | So. Malachi DuVall
Malachi DuVall finished with a 19-7 record. Injured for most of January missed four MAC duals. He finished 3-0 in the conference, including a fall against Lock Haven's Colin Fegley, a technical fall against Bloomsburg's Bruno Stolfi, and a decision against Rider's Isaac Dean. The sophomore finished third at the Princeton Open to begin the season, including a major decision against the Broncs' Asa Terrell (Nov. 6).

Jonathan List notched a 16-15 regular season record. The sophomore was 2-4 in MAC duals with wins against Bloomsburg's Tanner Culver and Lock Haven's Brad Morrison. In the Midlands Championship, he earned a decision against the MAC's Joey Lyons (Cleveland St) and dropped a match to Buffalo's Sam Mitchell (Dec. 29).
285 | Fr. Donovan Sprouse
Donovan finished 6-14 in the 285-weight class. The freshman wrestled in all the MAC duals, dropping all seven, but defeated Lock Haven's E. Miller in the ARMS Software Patriot Open (Dec. 4).
