Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |
FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason lacrosse team fell to Campbell on Wednesday afternoon in George Mason Stadium, 10-7.

The Patriots (0-5) we're led by another hat trick from senior Shannon Tuozzo, who netted at least three goals for the third time this season.

It was a defensive battle in the first as the Camels (2-2) scored the only goal of the stanza to lead 1-0 after 15 minutes. Mason came out of the break with two straight goals in just 90 seconds to take their first lead of the game from Tuozzo and senior Morgan Gunn

The two teams traded goals and the lead throughout the second as two more Patriots got on the board to tie the game at four apiece, but a Camels' goal with 3:25 to go in the half gave them a lead they would not lose again.

Campbell scored three-straight goals to open the third quarter to stretch their lead to four with 9:13 remaining in the quarter. Junior Kate Elam stopped the run with her first goal as a Patriot on a free position opportunity, followed by a player-up goal from Tuozzo to cut the lead back to two at the end of the third quarter.

The Camels were able to slow down the Patriots' momentum as they scored less than three minutes into the fourth quarter. The two teams traded shots until Campbell scored again just under two minutes later. Mason was able to hold Campbell scoreless the rest of the way, but could only convert on one more goal to provide the final tally, 10-7.
