Steve Curtis Awarded Virginia PTR Coach of the Year

Fairfax, Va. -- George Mason head women's tennis coach Steve Curtis was recently honored as the Virginia PTR College Coach of the Year, as announced by the USTA/Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).
 
This award is presented to a member who has displayed the highest standards in the coaching of players or teams, displayed not only in their accomplishments as players but in their character as well.
 
The award was presented at the PTR Symposium in Indian Wells, Calif. in November, but Curtis was unable to attend.
 
"I am very humbled and honored to be chosen as the Virginia PTR Coach of the Year," said Curtis. "This award is a result of the dedicated people I work with, the incredible students, and awesome colleagues."
 
Curtis has been the head coach for the Patriots since the 2004-05 season where he established a winning program. The Patriots have 13 winning seasons under Curtis, including a school-record 21 matches in the 2009-2010 season.
 
The PTR is the Professional Tennis Registry which is the international organization that certifies tennis professionals. The headquarters are located in Hilton Head, SC. The organization also organizes the PTR Springfest which the Mason tennis programs attend on spring break.
 
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,000 members in 131 countries. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
