NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Mason infielder Haley Taormina has been named the Atlantic 10's Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Over this past weekend at the Spartan Classic, held by USC Upstate, the Chesapeake, Va., native went 6-for-11 and led the team with two home runs and a staggering 11 RBI. She played a major role in securing three wins for the Patriots over the weekend, where Mason scored ten runs in all three victories. In those victories, the Patriots outscored their opponents 30-6.
The senior was also a team leader in batting average, on base percentage and slugging (.545 / .600 / 1.364). Along with her 11 RBI, she had five runs, two doubles and three stolen bases.
This is Haley's second Atlantic 10 award of the season and third of her career.
The Green & Gold will have their home opener is this weekend, Feb. 25-26, where they will face off against Holy Cross in a three-game series. Saturday will be a double-header played at noon and 2:30 p.m. Sunday's game will be played at noon.
