Fairfax -
Gavin Mogck has begun his college career by earning a spot in the A10 Men's All-Rookie Team.
Gavin Mogck began his journey at the Richmond Spider Alumni, but was assigned as an unattached runner, which is the norm for the incoming freshman. During the Richmond meet, Gavin finished third (18:41.8) among the George Mason squad only behind
Mason Love and
Wesley Bond. Gavin was unattached once again for the CNU Invitational where he ran the 8k with a time of 25:14.32. The results obtained in Gavin's first two college meets were enough to convince Coach Gerard to hand him the George Mason uniform and to make his official debut as a Patriot.
Gavin made his Patriot debut at the Paul Short Run, located in his home state of Pennsylvania. The conditions of the race were not as expected but Gavin pushed through to finish third among the George Mason squad with a time of 25:26.7. Next race was at the IC4A/ECAC Championships at Van Cortland Park, New York. Gavin maintained his consistency finishing in the top 4 for George Mason with a time of 25:19.6. It was finally the moment for the A10 Championships and Gavin had nerves of steel to finish in 30th overall, 2nd to finish for George Mason, with a time of 24:51.9 which is his fastest time in his college career. He has also gained experience in running at the NCAA SE Regional Championships, finishing in 115th with a time of 31:37.3.
Gavin Mogck's hard work and persistence has earned him a spot in the A10 Men's All-Rookie Team, and this is only the beginning for Gavin and his running career.
