Fairfax, Va. -- Ruju Chauhan earned a ITA Ranking after the fall season, her first season with the Patriots women's tennis team.
The grad transfer from Prarie View A&M earned a #116 ranking after a successful fall, winning two tournaments and finishing with a 7-1 overall record.
"It's exciting to have our first player ever to be ranked in the fall ITA rankings," said Head Coach Steve Curtis. "Ruju earned the honor by going undefeated in two fall tournaments."
Chauman was crowned champion of Flight C at the Bill and Mary Moore Invitational. The grad student won four straight matches, all in extra sets to win the championship. She defeated Manci Pal, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 in the final match.
The Ahmedabad, India native won the Maryland Flight at the Bedford Cup hosted by the University of Maryland. She defeated teammate
Cenan Liu in the championship. She also had success in doubles action paired up with Maitree Rout, winning the doubles North Flight.
