FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's and men's swimming and diving teams completed the final day of the Patriot Invitational, with both teams placing third in the three-day event held at the Patriot Invitational at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
Seniors
Abigail Murtaugh,
Graham Boyle and
Ian Castegnaro were recognized on Saturday.
On the women's side, Florida Atlantic finished first with 986 points, followed by Towson (736), George Mason (605.5), Richmond (483), American (376), St. Bonaventure (371), Marist (184.5) and UNCW (43).
Junior
Ali Tyler won the 100-yard freestyle (49.55) with junior
Emma DeJong sixth (51.26) and sophomore
Peyton Brehmer seventh (51.34).
Freshman
Kristen Ivey placed second in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:00.29) and finished eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.22).
In the 200-yard backstroke, junior
Anka Whelan took third (2:00.50) and junior
Shannon Judge finished sixth (2:02.26).
Senior
Abigail Murtaugh touched the wall third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.24).
The team of Judge, DeJong, Brehmer and Tyler took the top spot in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:23.64).
On the men's side, Florida Atlantic finished first with 1,059 points, followed by Towson (860), George Mason (534), St. Bonaventure (505), Marist (366), American (255), UNCW (114) and Marymount (60).
Sophomore
Tate Anderson finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:46.06).
In the 200-yard breaststroke, junior
Tyler Lentine placed second (1:59.19) and sophomore
Jack Chapman was seventh (2:04.80).
Freshman
Ian Rodgers took second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:48.46) while sophomore
Sam Rivas finished seventh (1:52.35) in the event.
Freshman
Alex Crown placed fifth in the 1650-yard freestyle (15:56.47).
The combination of junior
Zane Roberts, sophomore
Joshua Hochard, Anderson and Rodgers swam to a third place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:59.71).
