Fairfax- The Patriots will be competing in the A-10 Cross Country Championship hosted by the University of Dayton this Saturday, October 28th starting at 10 a.m.
George Mason has participated in the Richmond Spider Alumni Open, CNU Invitational, Paul Short Run, and the IC4A/ECAC Championships this season in preparations for the most anticipated race, the A-10 Championships.
Last year's participation at the A-10 Championships, George Mason men's cross country placed in 4th with
Wesley Bond finishing in 7th with a time of 24:11.8 and receiving All-Conference honors.
Josh Walker and
Kai Muniz also finished among the first five for Mason to secure some points.
George Mason women's cross country had their best ever finish placing 3rd last year and receiving 3 All-Conference Awards.
Kate O'Neill was one the recipients for finishing in 15th with a time of 17:42.7.
Nourene Nabbus and
Sarah Clark have been consistent with their performances this season as well and will be looking to help Mason achieve a higher finish.
"We're very much looking forward to this championship," said Coach Gerard. "Both squads are well prepared, excited, ready and have been progressing nicely over the course of the season. Having been in the league for over a decade now, this championship appears, on paper, to be one of the most competitive and deepest ever for both men and women. There are a lot of teams running well, including ourselves so we expect Saturday to be an old-fashioned slug fest and we're really excited to be in the fight"!
Loyola Chicago won last year's edition in both the men's and women's championships.
