Nikita Gubenko and
Samir Davidov earn top 10 finishes to lead the men's golf team to a seventh place finish at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.
The Patriots (+14) finished between two Ohio schools, five strokes behind Miami (OH) and two strokes better than Bowling Green State University in the 13-team field. Marquette (-12) was crowned champion edging Illinois (-11) by one stroke. The two teams were tied after 54-holes. Wright State took third place (-10), while Illinois State (-7) and Marshall (+6) rounded out the top 5.
Nikita Gubenko finished t-8 in the field of 80 individuals, carding a four-under-par (67-72-70) 209 to lead the Patriots. The senior carded a one-under-par 70 in the final round. The McLean, Va. native scored an eagle on the par 5, hole #6 to finish one-under on the front nine today.
Samir Davidov finished 10th on the leader board (67-70-73=210) at the Par 71, 7,006-yard south course at NCR.
The Patriots will travel to the Bryan National Collegiate, October 29-31, held in Greensboro, N.C.
