Fairfax, Va.— The George Mason wrestling team will wrap up its seven-match road stint in New York this weekend with matches against Hofstra, LIU, and Drexel. The Patriots will take on the Pride in Hempstead, NY on Friday Night (Feb. 3) before the tri-meet in Brooklyn with LIU at Noon and Drexel at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Green and Gold (10-4, 2-2) won its 10th match of the season last weekend against SIUE, matching the most wins in a season since the 2014-15 season. The Patriots have had three 9-win seasons in the past four years (only had four matches in 2020-21).

The Patriots are 1-12 all-time against old CAA foe Hofstra. The Patriots broke an 11-match losing streak with a win against the Pride on Feb. 22, 2019. Hofstra won the last match-up in the 2019-20 season.

Mason and LIU have met twice in the history of the program with Mason winning both duals. The two clubs met last season with the Patriots taking the match 24-16, on Dec. 2, 2021.

The Patriots hope to break a seven-match skid to Drexel. The Patriots last beat the Dragons, 18-17 on Feb. 20, 2009. Drexel owns an overall 13-1 record against Mason on the mat.

Drexel brings four nationally-ranked wrestlers to the mat this weekend, including No. 5 Mickey O'Malley at 174 pounds. Also in the rankings; No. 24 Luke Nichter (149), No. 18 Evan Barczak (165), No. 27 Brian Bonino (184).
