Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason women's tennis team got off to a good start to its spring season with a 5-2 win against Loyola (MD) played indoors at the Burke Racquet & Swim Club.
"I was very proud of the team tonight," said Head Coach Steve Curtis. "They battled hard and represented Mason extremely well."
Mason earned the doubles point winning the Nos. 1 and 3 matches.
In singles action, the Patriots won four of the six matches with victories by La, Garcia, Fitz-Patrick, and Nannery.
Senior La defeated the Greyhounds top player in three sets. After winning the first game, 7-5, La dropped the second by the same score. La prevailed in the tie-breaker, 10-5 to improve to 6-5 on the year.
Garcia earned her sixth win of the season beating Loyola's Lauren Manwiller, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 2 position.
