Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's and men's swimming and diving teams concludes the regular season in a tri-meet against Old Dominion and Campbell on Saturday, with the meet scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. at the Swimming Facility in Norfolk, Va.
The Patriots swept the Monarchs in the last meeting on Jan. 29, 2022 at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. The Mason women's team earned a 173-102 win, while the men's team posted a 175.5-113.5 victory.
On the women's side, the Patriots won 13 events against the Monarchs.Â
Ali Tyler won both the 100-yard backstroke (55.87) and 50-yard freestyle (23.43),
Jacquee Clabeaux placed first in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.00) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.96),
Abigail Murtaugh took the top spot in both the 100-yard butterfly (58.41) and 200-yard butterfly (2:07.65), while
Emma McDonald placed first in both the one-meter (200.70) and three-meter (205.05) diving events.
Anka Whelan touched the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.56),
Emma DeJong took the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (52.48),
The combination of Tyler Clabeaux, Murtaugh and
Shannon Judge won the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.68).

On the men's side in last year's meeting against Old Dominion, the Patriots won 11 events on the day.

Jackson Knouse won the distance events, with first-place in both the 1650-yard freestyle (16:20.41) and 500-yard freestyle (4:48.12),
Alexander Franklin took the top spot in both the 100-yard backstroke (50.62) and 100-yard butterfly (49.90), while
Thomas Chapman touched the wall first in both the 100-yard breaststroke (58.29) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.90).
Anthony Nguyen claimed the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.18). In the deep end of the pool,
Ian Castegnaro won both the one-meter (265.05) and three-meter (249.75) diving events.
This season, the Mason women's team has a mark of 3-1 in dual meets, while the men's team has a record of 2-1.
Last time out, the Patriots' women's team won 12 events on the way to a 204-94 victory over UMBC, while the men's team fell to the Retrievers, 173-127, on last Saturday at the UMBC Aquatic Center.
Tyler touched the wall first in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.65) and 500-yard freestyle (5:12.44), Clabeaux took first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.90) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.53).
Whelan won three events, the 100-yard backstroke (58.16), 200-yard backstroke (2:04.15) and the 200-yard IM (2:09.40).
Madison Nalls claimed first-place in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:37.25) and 100-yard freestyle (53.12). McDonald won both the one-meter (208.05) and three-meter (224.18) diving events.
The Patriots also won the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.90) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:32.92).Â
On the men's side last weekend, the Patriots won five events against the Retrievers.
Tate Anderson won both the 100-yard backstroke (50.78) and 200-yard backstroke (1:50.41), Knouse took the 1000-yard freestyle (9:56.63),
Zane Roberts won the 50-yard freestyle (21.46) and
Max Fermayer touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.88).
SCOUTING OLD DOMINION
Old Dominion swept American last Saturday, with the women's team earning a 159-112 win over the Eagles and the men's team posting a 179-92 victory at the Reeves Aquatic Center in Washington, D.C.
On the men's side, the Monarchs won the 400-yard medley relay (3:28.91) and 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.47). Old Dominion also won 10 individual events, including Carson Doll the 1650-yard freestyle (16:29.68), Noah Wilkins the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.54), Gustaf Hansson the 50-yard backstroke (24.14) and Jacob Cobb the 400-yard IM (4:10.49).
On the women's side, the Monarchs won eight events, with Cara O'Toole the 1650-yard freestyle (17:51.3), Tara Enneking the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.29) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.87) and Summer Miln the 50-yard freestyle (24.22).
