Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving at UMBC

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to take on UMBC on Saturday, Jan. 21, with the meet scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the UMBC Aquatic Complex.
The Patriots last met the Retrievers in a dual meet on Jan. 18, 2020. The UMBC men's team posted a 165-133 win and the Retrievers women's team earned a 166-127 victory.
On the Mason women's side,
Jacquee Clabeaux won both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.18) and 100-yard freestyle (52.24), while
Leah Riley touched the wall first in the 200-yard IM (2:11.07). The Patriots also won the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:33.58).
On the men's side the last time Mason met UMBC, the Patriots won both the 200-yard medley relay (1:31.75) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:05.54).
The meet against UMBC is the first for the Patriots in 2023.
The Mason women's team is 2-1 in dual meets this season, with victories over Towson (145-133) and Davidson (160.6-138.5). The men's team has a mark of 2-0, with wins over Towson (159-139) and Davidson (205.5-166.5).
Last time out, both the Mason women's and men's teams placed third at the three-day Patriot Invitational Nov. 17-19, 2022.
SCOUTING UMBC
Last time out, the UMBC men's team lost to Towson, 194-106, and the women's team fell to the Tigers, 235-65, on Jan. 18 at Burdick Pool in Towson, Md.
Junior Dani Nicusan broke his program record with a win in the 100-yard IM (50.36), while sophomore Oliver Gassmann won both the 50-yard freestyle (22.20) and 100-yard freestyle (48.90).
Graduate student Caroline Sargent notched three second-place finishes, including a school record in the 100-yard IM (58.88).

The Patriots will face Old Dominion on Saturday, Jan. 28, with the meet scheduled to begin at noon in Norfolk, Va.
