Fairfax, Va. – George Mason swimmer
Jacquee Clabeaux was given the OrthoVirginia Student Achiever Award, an award that recognizes student-athletes who perform exceptionally in both the classroom and in their community.
The Fairfax, Va., native was recognized at the George Mason men's basketball game against Davidson on Saturday.
Jacquee is a graduate student on the women's swimming and diving program. She is pursuing a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology and has been recognized as a Peter N. Sterns Provost Scholar Athlete, the highest academic award for student-athletes at George Mason University. Jacquee made the Dean's list for six straight semesters and is a three-time recipient of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. She is currently a four-time A-10 Champion.
Jacquee's performance beyond the pool and classroom has also been outstanding, as she is serving in her second term on the University's Athletic Council and on the SAAC Board as Secretary. Her service to Mason has been exceptional, as she was instrumental in the success of the SAAC Can Food Drive for local shelters and Read Across America, two signature events for SAAC designed to give back to the local community.
The OrthoVirginia Student Achiever Award has been put into place to recognize outstanding student-athletes not just for their athletic performances. The student-athlete can be recognized for anything that they have done that exceptional outside their playing field… whether it be community service, leadership on campus, consistent performance in the classroom, incredible attitude, recovering from a long injury, improvement on the field, etc.
