FINAL RESULTS
Fairfax, Va. – Freshman
Samir Davidov finished runner-up at the Doc Gimmler Intercollegiate played at Bethpage State Park Red Course to lead the George Mason golf team to a third place finish this weekend.
Davidov finished with a 12-under par 198 (69-64-65), three strokes behind individual champion Jared Nelson from UConn. The freshman began the day in fifth place. He continued where he left off yesterday scoring a 30 (-5) on the front nine for the second straight round, which included an eagle on the par 5, 528-yard hole 5.
A native of Roanoke, Va., Davidov strung together 38 straight holes with a par or better during the three rounds. He finished tied for third in par four scoring (-6) and fourth in par three scoring (2.83).
The three-round score by Davidov is the second best in Mason history in a 54-hole tournament since Mike Kirby recorded 16-under par at the James Madison Invitational during the 2005-06 season. The mark bested recent graduate
Will Halamandaris' 10-under finish last season at the VCU Shootout.
Grad student
JP Miller finished in the top 10 as well with a seven-under-par 203 (66-69-68). He finished second in par 3 scoring (2.67), along with teammate
Ryan Monastero.
Sophomore
Seth Conway carded level par for the tournament (68-71-71=210) to finish t-31.
Mason finished third in the 15-team tournament. It was the best finish in program history at the tournament, previously named The McLaughlin.
Harvard University and host St. John's battled down to the final holes with Harvard pulling off the team win by one stroke. The Crimson finished (-33).
